O.A.W., Schneidemühl Original
1918
Serial Number
Fok.D.VII (O.A.W.) 6444/18
These pieces have been offered to the Fokker-Team-Schorndorf
and since we wanted to prevent that one more piece of German history is sold to somewhere
abroad, we desided to take over the lot. The previous owner claimed that these items would
stand in connection with the loss of 6444/18 while having been flown by the famous German
Fighter Pilot Ernst Udet at the airfield of Neuruppin in late 1918. All efforts to examine
whether this could be the truth or not failed. There was not found proof that it was that
way nor the opposite. During the examination and the preparation of the research report it
was confirmed that these remains did indeed come from Fokker D.VII 6444/18 that was built
by the Ostdeutsche Albatroswerke at Schneidemühl. The resarch report with all
photographic evidences is available as download from our member`s section.
